UNIVERSITY FAQ

Answers for learners, applicants, and partners.

Official general guidance from Global Open University. Requirements, fees, and programme availability are confirmed by authorised university teams.

Accessibility

Does the LMS support reading and display preferences?

The LMS provides a reader-friendly display setting and light or dark display preference. These controls change presentation only; they do not alter an academic record, assessment deadline, or course requirement.

Admissions

How do I apply to Global Open University?

Use the online application form, select an active programme, and submit your contact details and application statement. The admissions team reviews each application through My GOU and communicates the decision using the email address supplied.

What happens after I submit an application?

You receive an application reference. Admissions may ask for further information, record the review outcome, and—if an offer is approved—create a student account through the university process.

What are the admission requirements?

Entry requirements, documentary evidence, programme availability, transfer credit decisions, and any country-specific conditions are determined by the authorised admissions and academic teams for each application. Do not rely on unofficial third-party advice.

Assessment

How are assignments, quizzes, and grades handled?

Assessment availability, deadlines, grading criteria, feedback, and academic-record approval are managed by authorised instructors and academic or registrar roles. Only registrar-approved grades appear in the official transcript view.

Calendar

Where is the official academic calendar?

My GOU displays the University calendar, including published academic, enrollment, assessment, support, ceremony, and other official events. Course-specific due dates and assessment windows are shown in the LMS.

Credentials

How can an employer or institution verify a GOU credential?

A credential holder can provide the verification code issued by the Registrar. Anyone can enter that code at verify.globalopenuniversity.online to confirm the public status of an active credential.

Can I download or print a certificate?

A credential may be presented in the University’s printable certificate format when the issuing office has selected an approved certificate template. The verification code and the public Verify service remain the authoritative authenticity check.

Enrollment

Why do I need to accept an enrollment agreement?

The current enrollment agreement records the learner’s acceptance of the university’s published academic, conduct, privacy, technology, assessment, finance, and account-security terms. The applicable version is retained with the learner’s acceptance record.

Fees and records

Where do I obtain official fee or record information?

Official fee notices, invoices, academic records, and credential decisions are issued only through authorised university processes. Contact the university through My GOU support or the admissions process if you need confirmation.

Fees and scholarships

Can the university operate in free or paid study mode?

The University controls whether the configured enrolment flow operates in free, paid, or hybrid mode. Published fee notices, payment requirements, waiver decisions, and scholarship awards are confirmed through My GOU by authorised university roles.

How do scholarships work?

Scholarship programmes and awards are reviewed by authorised university staff. An award is not final until its status is recorded as approved in the student’s institutional record. Eligibility, coverage, renewal, and conditions are stated in the approved scholarship decision.

Governance

How does GOU describe accreditation and ownership?

The University maintains internal ownership, governance, registration, and regulatory records. It publishes accreditation or recognition statements only after written confirmation from the appropriate authority. Ask the University for official documentation rather than relying on third-party claims.

Language

Can I use a language other than English?

GOU can publish approved translations for standard interface labels and institutional information. Learners should rely on the current official programme, agreement, and assessment language set by the University when an authoritative translation has not been published.

Learning

How are courses delivered?

Courses are delivered online through the GOU LMS. Where you are enrolled, the LMS provides learning units, licensed or open resources, assignments, discussions, quizzes, graded quizzes, and examinations as set by the assigned instructor.

How do I access the LMS and Campus?

After the university creates and activates your account, use your My GOU credentials to sign in to the LMS and Campus subdomains. Access to courses and spaces is controlled by your active enrolments and role.

Library and OER

Where can I find learning resources and open educational resources?

The Library & OER service at oer-library.globalopenuniversity.online provides published public resources. Course-specific and restricted resources are available only to eligible users through My GOU or the LMS.

Payments

How do online payments work?

Where online payment is enabled, My GOU creates a payment request with the University’s configured provider. The University records a fee as paid only after receiving and verifying the provider’s transaction result. Do not send money using instructions received outside an official GOU channel.

Privacy and safety

How does University Chat protect messages?

University Chat uses authenticated University sessions, role-based conversation access, CSRF protection, secure transport, moderation reporting, and audit logs. Direct messages are private to their participants, while authorised course and group moderation follows University policy. Do not send passwords, payment details, or protected admissions documents through Chat. No device key or Chat passphrase is required.

Who can see my profile photo and contact details?

You control whether your profile appears in the eligible shared-course Chat directory and whether you accept Chat messages. Profile photos are protected behind a signed-in university session and shown only to authorised users of that service.

Programmes

Where can I see current programmes and professional certificates?

The public Programmes page lists active programmes. Professional certificate curricula are reviewed and published by authorised academic administrators; availability is confirmed by the university before admission or enrolment.

Safety

How are conduct and community concerns moderated?

Students can report inappropriate forum, Campus, and Chat activity through the relevant service. Authorised moderation roles record, investigate, and resolve reports under university policy. Direct Chat messages are private to their participants; message content is not a substitute for protected document submission.

Student support

How can a current student request help?

Current students can open a support request in My GOU. The appropriate university team can reply, update the request status, and send an official email update where delivery is enabled.
